  • Summary: After receiving a new release in the QA/DEV environment, you will need to test it to ensure that the most important functions work. This test will help you decide if the build is ready to be applied to your production.

  1. A new release has been deployed to QA/DEV environment.
  2. All regular functionality and critical processes need to be tested.

Impact / Risks

  • All functionality that is critical to the business should be tested.
  • It is highly recommended that you test all daily operations; this will reduce your organization's risks when moving the new release to Production.

Resolution

Look up the Release Notes which can be found in the Sparkrock 2016 section on the Success Center. If you cannot find the Release Notes for your destination version, please contact your Project Manager or Customer Support support@sparkrock.com.

Test everything that has changed in the release and any release between your current release (ex. 9.08) and destination release (ex. 9.08 SP2) that affects your business processes.

Test the following significant processes*:

A) Finance
  • Sales Invoice
  • Sales Credit Memo
  • Apply/Unapply Payments
  • Payment Journal – EFT and Check
  • Void and Financially Void Check
  • General Journal
  • Trial Balance (i.e., as at March 31, 2018) comparison with the current version and destination version
  • Sparkrock 2016 Approval Workflows
  • Cash Receipts/Deposit
  • Employee Center:
    • Financial Analysis
    • Request (Payment/Purchase)
    • Expense Claim
    • Receipting (if applicable – verify Employee Center receipting is posting in Sparkrock 2016)
  • Request Inbox:
    • Purchase Order (if applicable confirm Auto PO is generated)
    • Purchase Invoice
  • A/P in Sparkrock 2016:
    • Purchase Invoice (Standard - without a Purchase Order)
    • Receipting through to Purchase Invoice
    • Purchase Credit Memo
  • Customizations (if applicable)
B) Workforce (HR)
  • Test HR Requests:
    • Hire
    • Hire New
    • Hire additional position
    • Details change
    • Termination
    • Assignment change
  • Employee Center:
    • Employee Self-Service
    • Manager Self-Service
    • Verify attendance
C) Workforce (Payroll)
  • Pre-load employees, calculate payroll, validate results
  • Manually enter some samples of hourly employees (to reflect scheduler or time entry) & calculate payroll, validate results
  • Process a full payroll, post
  • Employee Centre:
    • Check pay stub
  • Check posted entries in the GL
